Movie Reviews

Movie Diane Edwin
The Matrix

8.5

My kind of movie. I don't need the fight scenes and such, but the story within a story within a story concept was thought provoking.
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me

6.5

Same as the first one. Entertaining
Sixth Sense

8

Not as scary as the previews. Very interesting movie.
The Blair Witch Project

8.5

Great marketing concept. Sit in the back. The shaky camera make you feel sick. Go to the website to get more information on the movie without ruining it for you.
Star Wars - Episode I: The Phantom Menace

7

I enjoyed it. I think they did a good job of making it interesting even though everyone in the world knows how it will turn out. They still kept you entertained and guessing. Special effects, cityscapes, and creatures were great.
You've Got Mail

7

Very feel good movie. Exactly like Sleepless in Seattle. I enjoyed it, but the end was a little too much...just like in the Terminator.
Star Trek: Insurrection

7.5

There were several "plot twists" that were very cool and some "escape" scenes that were dumb. A couple of illogical situations, but I liked the movie a lot...and I'm not even a Trekkie. If I were, Data would be my hero.
A Bug's Life

7

After being amazed at the tree in the very beginning of the movie, I forgot it was a computer animated movie and just enjoyed the show. A standard Disney flick which means very good in my book.
Enemy of the State

DID NOT SEE

7

Action packed. I thought it was very exciting and suspenseful.
Pleasantville

5

I would've given this movie a high score. It was perfect for a 5th grade audience only they priced out of their range by adding unnecessary sex and swearing.
Zorro

6.5

Not going to make your brain hurt, but it was a fun movie. I'm surprised it didn't catch on. A solid action movie.
The Water Boy

6.5

Entertaining. My only problem is if you're going to be a wacky film, go all out...like Airplane...especially if you're going with a standard football hero script.
There's Something About Mary

7.0

Extremely funny. Ben Stiller is great and Cameron Diaz is, well, Cameron Diaz. I thought Chris Elliot could have been funnier, but it was a great movie.
The Truman Show

7

6.5

Interesting concept and entertaining flick. It never really seemed to have a plot or character development, but I enjoyed the show.
The X-Files

7

8

Good for X-phobes and X-philes alike. Like the reviewers say...just like watching it on TV only without commercials and more swearing.
The Borrowers

6

Good for a kid.

6

6.5 for anyone ages 7 through 12. I wanted to see Wild Things though.
Jackie Brown

6.5

Not bad, not great. I like Bridget Fonda.

7.5

Very Pulp Fiction-ish. Samuel L. Jackson is great! Like Pulp Fiction, the dialogue is excellent, but Jackie Brown's story is more coherent. What irks me though is that un-hip endings are now hip.
Titanic

7.5

I feel like I'm over using this 7.5 rating, but this was another very good movie. I expected a cheesy thriller like "Twister" on the water, but instead got a pleasantly surprising mix of history, romance and adventure.

8

Romeo and Juliet take a cruise. I thought it was an excellent, moving movie.
Tomorrow Never Dies

8

The stakes were high... and Bond came through for the world with his usual style, grace and sex appeal. Fun, fun, fun.

8

Bond is up to his same old tricks. This is my kind of movie. Action, one-liners, and Teri Hatcher.
Amistad

7

The feeling you have when you walk out of the theater with is somewhat akin to the feeling you have when you walk out of the Holocaust Museum. This movie will make you think.

7

Filled with dramatic speeches, powerful scenes, and heart-touching moments...I liked it anyway. Not to ruin the movie for you, but Anthony Hopkins looks just like Bob Newhart to me. Anyway, if you like epic movies, you'll like Amistad. If you don't, you'll end up snoring like the guy sitting behind us.
Starship Troopers

7

Entertaining and fun, although gory.

7

90120 and Battlestar Galactica rolled into one. Cheesy, but entertaining. Great visual effects, average plot. -1 for the acting, +2 for the shower scene.
Fairy Tale

6

Edwin thought it should not be titled "A True Story", but I think that's the whole point.

5

A little slow for me. Light on plot, character development, and action.
5th Element

8.5

Highly recommended, it was unique.

7.5

Pulp fiction meets Bladerunner. I thought it was really good movie.
Austin Powers

6

I had to apologize to my friends for bringing them to this movie; however, thinking back to the "motorized-cart-in-the-hall-scene" still makes me laugh out loud, loudly.

6.5

A la Saturday Night Live, it's not funny when you watch it, but when you think back, it's pretty funny. The concept of the disgruntled son was funny.

Please see the explanation of the ratings especially if you think the ratings are low. On the BertottiScale, 6 is the probably the average movie and 8 is a great movie.
